"When I was still at school, I really enjoyed maths at some point. Even back then, I was really happy when I could help my classmates.

Today, I studied civil engineering at ETH Zurich and I enjoy maths and other natural sciences more than ever. For me, every problem is a puzzle that needs to be solved. I want to pass on this joy of maths to everyone who learns with me, to get them just as enthusiastic about maths. In my opinion, this works best when you can absolutely focus on one pupil. In my lessons, I try to show the students in which areas of technology the respective topic will later be relevant or what it can be used for. This also helps me to break down complicated issues into easily understandable portions so that a solution can be worked out step by step."

Alexis Maîtrehenry

Alexis Maîtrehenry successfully teaches French as a second language. His teaching experience is extensive - he has worked as a teacher at several vocational schools, grammar schools and universities throughout Switzerland. He is a language expert for the Delf and Dalf exams and is very familiar with the preparation for the Matura ("Hausmatura" or federal Matura). We are delighted to have him in our team!

"My story at Perspectiva Nova already began in 2018: Perspectiva Nova not only successfully supported me in my Gymi exams at the short-term Gymnasium, but also accompanied me with great commitment during my school years. I am currently in the intermediate year before my studies and, as a homework corrector, I check the work of prospective secondary school students.

My favourite subjects are German, English and mathematics, but other subjects also fill me with great joy.

I have been passionate about football since I was five years old. From the beginning, I was taught important values such as team spirit, mutual motivation and self-reflection. Through my later work at a curative education school, I was able to gain experience with children with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. With my patient, calm and yet relaxed manner, I was able to support the children individually in their abilities. One of the biggest lessons I have learnt from this work is to adapt the lessons to the child, to be empathetic and patient. "While I was studying English and German language and literature, I enjoyed teaching English and German to pupils at various school levels in one-to-one settings. That's when I realised that I find working with young people refreshing and really appreciate it.

Thanks to my many years of teaching experience at grammar schools, vocational colleges, technical colleges, language schools (DaZ lessons) and a primary school, I am very familiar with different learning and teaching methods and have come to the conclusion that basically all students can achieve learning success. I have found that it gives me great pleasure to provide practice material that is tailored to the learning needs of the students. My aim is to support the pupils with varied materials that are tailored to their interests as much as possible. "After graduating from high school with a focus on maths and physics, I completed my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering for three years. I am now doing a Master's degree in Robotics, Systems and Controls at ETH Zurich. I discovered my love and strength for maths at an early age.

I imagine the compartment like a big machine with lots of different cogwheels. Only when all the cogs are present and correctly adjusted can the machine function. When all the sub-areas have been understood and internalised, you can master tasks that may have seemed foreign to you before.

Very often, pupils have a good basic understanding of a maths topic but lack the right connections. In the individual lesson, I can take the problem apart, find out which gears are missing or incorrectly adjusted and reassemble them correctly. The aim is to solve all the problems step by step, make the right connections and get the machine running. One of my biggest motivations is watching a child's AHA moment and seeing the joy rise when the machine finally runs."

"I trained as a chemistry lab technician and studied theoretical physics at ETH. Contrary to the reputation of the theoretical physicist, I avoid scaring students with overcomplicated explanations. I come up with explanations using the funniest possible analogies from everyday life for abstract issues. I have a lot of fun looking for new perspectives with students of all possible school levels, from primary school to adult education. I particularly enjoy coaching students with learning disabilities."

"I completed my basic teacher training during my secondary school education at the pedagogical baccalaureate school, during which I was able to benefit greatly from numerous internships in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. I regularly work as a vicar and have taught at primary schools as well as at a vocational preparation and integration school, which has enabled me to develop my teaching skills.

I am now also studying psychology at the University of Zurich and aim to become a psychotherapist. I enjoy spending my free time socialising or with animals, reading and expressing myself through art. My personal interests, combined with my pedagogical and psychological training, enable me to respond creatively and empathetically to the individual needs and learning styles of students and to offer new learning strategies in the event of any difficulties.

In my lessons, it is particularly important to me to be able to respond individually to the students and to promote their self-confidence and sense of self-efficacy. I am convinced that together we will realise hidden potential and learn a lot in a patient and stimulating atmosphere."

"By attending the Pädagogische Maturitätsschule, I was able to gain experience as a teacher early on and complete various internships at primary and secondary school level.
